To Rhea

Hail, Rhea, Great Mother of all, Lady of Comfort and Ease!

You are the eternal flow of time and generations, O Great Mother.

Mother of the gods, attended by lions, you with cunning brought about the rescue of your children,

Through Zeus, who you bore in secret and secreted in a cave in fair Crete,

Giving your husband Kronos a stone wrapped in swaddling clothes,

And Zeus the thunderer grew up to depose him and rescue his siblings.

Hail, Rhea, Great Mother of all, Lady of Comfort and Ease!
